I am so excited to share with you all about an art show that I am helping to organize. At Mill City Church, where I am a member, our small groups are organized around distinct missional purposes. The group that I am a part of, called Craft, is oriented towards the Arts community of Northeast Minneapolis. As part of an effort to support and engage local artists, we are running a juried art show this September. The show is called “Everybody Worships Something,” which builds upon a famous line by David Foster Wallace in his talk, “This is Water,” in which he poignantly says,
“There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship.”
We are looking forward to a very lively and engaging time where artists reflect on what they worship, or what they feel our culture worships, from various vantage points and faith traditions. We are so thrilled to facilitate this conversation!
If you’re in the Cities, please help spread the word! Submissions can be posted to our website, which you can find by clicking this link. The deadline for submissions is 30 July, 2018. And if you’re in the Twin Cities area from September 14–16, do stop by!
