I am very excited to announce that the third installment of Ecclesia and Ethics is just around the corner!
This year our main theme will be: Human Sexuality. Registration is now officially open; the cost of admission is $10, which goes straight to charity. You can find information for registration here. Be sure to tell people at your church, college, or seminary to come join us!
The conference will take place in real-time and online in a webinar format. Each session will be between 30-40 min. (with a 10–15 min. Q&A to follow). That means that you can attend our conference and listen to our international speakers without leaving the comforts of your home or office. That means you won’t need to get a hotel, book airfare or train tickets, go through the hassle of traveling, or even need a passport. In fact, you don’t even need to dress up! I may or may not have been wearing pajama bottoms during our previous meetings…
There will be a special introductory session and Q&A with Steve Chalke (Oasis Church, United Nations Special Advisor) on March 7th. Confirmed keynote presentations for this year’s conference on Saturday March 14 and Saturday March 21st include: Tremper Longman III (Westmont), Irmtraud Fischer (U. Gratz), Preston Sprinkle (Eternity Bible College), Wesley Hill (Trinity School for Ministry), Jenell Williams Paris (Messiah College), Frank Heinrich (Deutscher Bundestag), and Andrew Marin (The Marin Foundation).
In addition to keynote presentations there will be additional sessions allotted for short paper presentations. For those interested in giving a paper, the deadline is February 15. Scholars who wish to present papers are requested to send a 300 word abstract to ajones@corban.edu. A contribution should represent original work as it may be selected for publication in a conference proceedings through T&T Clark/Bloomsbury. The conference committee welcomes proposals on all topics related to, but not limited to:
- A biblical theology of sex
- Gender identity / gender roles
- Exegesis of biblical texts which are related to sexual ethics or a theology of sex
