As most of you already know, the San Francisco Giants are World Champions. And as most of you probably know, that fact makes me very happy.
This postseason run was incredible, and I’d say this year’s victory was the sweetest of the past three (#Dynasty). The series was incredible! Of the seven games, five were blow outs and two were decided by one run. Both teams were shut out, both teams won 7 run routs, and both won a 3–2 game. The difference in the series? Game 4; The only game with a come-back. Down 4–1 in the third inning, the Giants somehow managed to beat the Royals 11–4. However, it seemed early on that 4 runs would prove insurmountable. At that point the Royals were up 2–1 in the series and were threatening to take a 3–1 lead. Since they held the home field advantage it would have been incredibly difficult for the Giants to do anything to stop the Royals from winning it all. And at that point I feared that the Series was over—Oh me of little faith! That 4–1 lead in Game 4 also seemed insurmountable because the Giants could only muster 2 runs in both Games 2 and 3. Somehow the Giants were able to come back and tie the series 2–2. Game 4 was also the most significant game in my opinion because it was the only win that the Giants earned in the World Series in which Bumgarner didn’t pitch. Of course, he was our MVP by far, and it was pure joy watching him make history. But we needed to win a game without him in order to win it all, and Game 4 was that game.
I would like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Royals this postseason, and if they were playing any other team from the National League I would have rooted for them. I was rooting for them in the AL Wild Card, the ALDS, and the ALCS, which made it difficult when I had to transform Cain and Homer and Moustakas and the rest of the Royals gang into enemies. And they gave us a series! I feel like the Giants beat a really good team.
Anyway, I’m still on cloud 9 after the victory. And I thought I’d share some videos I found of the Giants giving their Christian testimonies. Most of the Giants players are actually Christians and it’s really neat to hear stories about how they pray together and have faith fellowship nights at the ballpark. These videos are pretty cool so check them out!
