We received some very difficult news this week that Brandon Barr, a contributor to the The Two Cities, has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Brandon has been a close friend of mine since childhood, and so the news of his illness comes as quite a blow. Brandon is 34 years old, and is married to Amanda. They are strong Christians. They have three young boys, Caleb, Nathan, and Isaiah. He began chemotherapy almost immediately, though there is still not a lot of additional information on his condition as of yet.
I’d like to ask our readers to be praying for Brandon’s speedy recovery, as well as for his family and the doctors who are treating him. They can use all the support they can get!
Specific Prayer Requests:
1. Complete healing! Additionally, that Brandon would be protected from other infections during Chemotherapy and that the symptoms of his treatment would be bearable.
2. Wisdom for his medical staff as they work towards a more thorough diagnosis and treatment plan.
3. His wife Amanda as she deals with this difficult situation. For her faith to remain strong and that she would feel the close presence of God at all times.
4. For Brandon’s children as they adjust to the changes that Brandon’s long-term treatment will bring. Also, that they would be able to process the situation as well as possible given their age.
5. For his friends and family, that we would know exactly to how best serve Brandon and his family in any way possible.
6. That in the midst of difficult and suffering that this situation would bring glory to God in every way possible.
